Την Πέμπτη 12 Μαρτίου 2026, στις 20:00 στην Τεχνόπολη του Δήμου Αθηναίων, θα πραγματοποιηθεί η έναρξη του 4ου Διεθνούς Φεστιβάλ Ανεξάρτητου Κινηματογράφου της Αθήνας – KINO Athens.
Στο Αμφιθέατρο Μιλτιάδης Έβερτ της Τεχνόπολης του Δήμου Αθηναίων θα παρουσιαστεί όλο το πρόγραμμα του φεστιβάλ που περιλαμβάνει 160 ανεξάρτητες ταινίες σε διεθνείς και εθνικές πρεμιέρες, μαζί με τις παράλληλες δράσεις.
Το φεστιβάλ ανοίγει με το Stereo Girls, τη νέα ταινία της Γαλλίδας δημιουργού Caroline Deruas Peano. Τοποθετημένη στη νότια Γαλλία της δεκαετίας του 1990, η ταινία ακολουθεί δύο αχώριστες έφηβες φίλες των οποίων το κοινό όνειρο για μουσική και ελευθερία διακόπτεται ξαφνικά από μια τραγωδία, αφήνοντας τη μία να συνεχίσει μόνη το όνειρο που μοιράζονταν.
Tρυφερή και ατμοσφαιρική, το Stereo Girls είναι μια ιστορία ενηλικίωσης για τη φιλία, τη μνήμη και την εύθραυστη ένταση της νεότητας. Συνδυάζοντας νοσταλγία, μουσική και συναισθηματική ειλικρίνεια, η Deruas Peano δημιουργεί μια βαθιά προσωπική ταινία που υμνεί τους δεσμούς που μας διαμορφώνουν και την αντοχή που χρειάζεται για να συνεχίσουμε να «τραγουδάμε» ακόμη και μετά την απώλεια. Κάνοντας πρεμιέρα ως ταινία έναρξης στην Εβδομάδα Κριτικής του Venice Film Festival, το Stereo Girls αναδεικνύει μια ξεχωριστή κινηματογραφική φωνή και προσκαλεί το κοινό σε μια ιστορία τόσο τρυφερή όσο και αξέχαστη.
Η Caroline Deruas Peano είναι Γαλλίδα σκηνοθέτρια και σεναριογράφος που κινείται στον χώρο του σύγχρονου ευρωπαϊκού κινηματογράφου, με έργο που συνδυάζει προσωπικές ιστορίες, μνήμη και νεότητα.
Ξεκίνησε την πορεία της με μικρού μήκους ταινίες που ξεχώρισαν σε διεθνή φεστιβάλ, όπως το L’Étoile de mer (2006), που παρουσιάστηκε στο Δεκαπενθήμερο των Σκηνοθετών στις Κάννες, και το Children of the Night (2011), το οποίο τιμήθηκε με Αργυρή Λεοπάρδαλη στο Φεστιβάλ του Λοκάρνο. Η σκηνοθετική της γραφή χαρακτηρίζεται από μια ευαίσθητη και συχνά αυτοβιογραφική προσέγγιση, εστιάζοντας σε θέματα όπως η φιλία, η ενηλικίωση, η απώλεια και η ένταση της νεότητας. Με την ταινία Stereo Girls (2025), τη δεύτερη μεγάλου μήκους δουλειά της, επιβεβαιώνει τη θέση της ως μια δημιουργός που συνδυάζει προσωπική αφήγηση με μια λεπτή, ποιητική κινηματογραφική ματιά.
Θα ακολουθήσει κοκτέιλ στον χώρο της Τεχνόπολης του Δήμου Αθηναίων.

On Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 20:00, the opening ceremony of the 4th Athens International Independent Film Festival – KINO Athens will take place at Technopolis City of Athens.
At the Miltiadis Evert Auditorium of Technopolis City of Athens, the full festival program will be presented, featuring 160 independent films in international and national premieres, along with the festival’s parallel events.
The festival opens with Stereo Girls, the new film by French filmmaker Caroline Deruas Peano. Set in southern France in the 1990s, the film follows two inseparable teenage friends whose shared dream of music and freedom is suddenly interrupted by tragedy, leaving one of them to carry on the dream they once shared. Tender and atmospheric, Stereo Girls is a coming-of-age story about friendship, memory, and the fragile intensity of youth. Blending nostalgia, music, and emotional honesty, Deruas Peano crafts a deeply personal film that celebrates the bonds that shape us and the resilience required to keep singing even after a loss. Premiering as the opening film of the Critics’ Week at the Venice Film Festival, Stereo Girls introduces a distinctive cinematic voice and invites audiences into a story that is both tender and unforgettable.
Caroline Deruas Peano is a French director and screenwriter working within contemporary European cinema, with a body of work that brings together personal stories, memory, and youth. She began her career with short films that stood out at international festivals, such as L’Étoile de mer (2006), which was presented at the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes, and Children of the Night (2011), which received the Silver Leopard at the Locarno Film Festival. Her filmmaking is marked by a sensitive and often autobiographical approach, focusing on themes such as friendship, coming of age, loss, and the intensity of youth. With Stereo Girls (2025), her second feature film, she confirms her position as a filmmaker who combines personal storytelling with a delicate, poetic cinematic gaze.
